Southwest Airlines Inaugurates New Maintenance Facility At Denver International Airport

Southwest Airlines is opening a new Technical Operations Complex at Denver International Airport. The brand new facility which has required three years to build along with an investment estimated at $100 million covers 130,000 square foot housing a hangar as well as office, training and warehousing space.

According to the airline announcement made on March 24th 2022, the new facility will provide key regional fleet support capabilities in carrying out scheduled overnight maintenance of the airline nearly 730 Boeing 737 aircraft. Other existing Southwest Airlines aircraft maintenance hangar are located in Atlanta, Chicago (Midway), Dallas (Love Field), Houston (Hobby), Orlando, and Phoenix. The maintenance shop, warehouse and aircraft hangars have been designed to allow servicing up to three Boeing 737 simultanously while outside parking space can accomodate up to 8 aircraft of the same type.

Providing a boost to the greater Denver area economy where the airline already provides employment to nearly 5,000 people, the Technical Operations Team that is due to start occupying the new state-of-the-art facility in the coming days will also consist of up to 100 local area residents.
