Los Angeles, California-based Air Lease Corporation just ordered 32 Boeing 737MAX aircraft from the Chicago, Illinois-headquartered manufacturer. The signing of a definitive purchase agreement took place after a memorandum of understanding was signed between both parties back in February 2022. The deal will allow the aircraft leasing company to acquire 32 latest generation Boeing 737MAX8 and 737MAX9 also referred to as 737-8 and 737-9. To date, Boeing has accumulated a backlog order of 130 Boeing 737MAX with Air Lease Corporation. The last order having been issued by Air Lease Corporation consisted of 18 aircraft and was signed this past February.

The Boeing 737MAX family of aircraft are Boeing’s latest offering of the legendary 737 family. The MAX series replace the New Generation (NG) Boeing 737-700,-800 and -900 from which they inherit similar fuselage and pilot rating. To the advantage of Boeing 737MAX, the newer generation engine technology that propels them are at least 20% more economical as far as fuel burn and also lower emission. For Air Lease Corporation whose fleet is nearing the 500-aircraft mark, building up its aircraft portfolio with the type means customers eager to renew their fleet, especially those already operating 737s aircraft of an older variant, may easily transition to the newer MAX version.
