Phoenix, Arizona based Mesa Air Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: MESA) announced July 13th 2020 it had signed a five-year cargo contract with DHL .
The new agreement will see, beginning in October2020 Mesa operate two Boeing 737-400F cargo aircraft owned by DHL Express Americas from the logistics company’s global hub at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
For Mesa which employs approximately 3,500 employees, the deal allows offers the opportunity to extend its operations to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport making it its ninth base of operations after Phoenix (PHX), Dallas (DFW), Washington Dulles (IAD), Louisville (SDF), Tucson (TUS), El Paso (ELP), Houston (IAH) and Houston Hobby (HOU).
The new cargo operations business opportunity comes at the right time for Mesa as the COVID19 pandemy continues to disrupt the passenger transport segment. Mesa mainly operates 85 Canadair Regional Jets, including 64 CRJ900s and 1 CRJ200 for American together with 20 CRJ700s for United as well as 60 Embraer E175 E-Jets for United.
