Qantas To Offer Celebratory Flights Before Boeing 747 Retirement

Australia’s national carrier Qantas has released the program of events celebrating the retirement of its last Boeing 747-400ER. The “farewell jumbo joy flights” will be operated from Sydney on Monday 13 July, Canberra on Friday 17th July and Brisbane on Wednesday 15th July. The carrier has been under pressure from the public to operate the three flights which will have a duration of one hour each.
With tickets sale scheduled to be going on sale on Wednesday 8th July, proceeds from the $400 Economy fares and $747 Business seats will go to the HARS Aviation Museum at Albion Park (Wollongong) and the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach. Both organizations are dedicated to promoting the history of the Boeing 747 in Qantas service from 1971 through final retirement flight that will depart Sydney on 22 July 2020 at 2 pm and operate as flight QF7474.
