On the same day an Indonesian Air Force BAE Hawk 200 crashed and its pilot ejected safely, half the world away, a Britain-based US Air Force F-15C crashed in Britain’s North Sea. The body of the F-15C pilot was recovered several hours after.
The British Coast Guard initiated intense search and rescue activities soon after the 9:40 a.m. local time, Monday June 15th 2020 accident.
The crash area was situated approximately 85 miles off Flamborough Head, on the U.K.’s Yorkshire’s North Sea coast. The tragic death of the pilot assigned to the 48th Fighter Wing’s 493rd Fighter Squadron based at RAF Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom occurred while on a routine training mission.
