13 French Soldiers Perish In Two-Copters Collision In Mali

A French Army Cougar Air Assault Tactical Helicopter

Thirteen french army soldiers deployed under the Barkhane operation in Mali, died Monday November 25th 2019 as the two helicopters they were riding in collided. The low altitude collision between a Tiger attack helicopter flown by two crews and a Cougar tactical transport helicopter with 11 personnel on board took place in the early evening, reportedly as the copters were pursuing terrorists operating nearby. The two helicopters involved in the crash belonging both to the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment, are normally based in the French southern city of Pau.
