Low cost carrier IndiGo, India’s largest carrier by fleet size and number of passengers was at the receiving of the Airbus A320neo programme’s airframe number 1,000. Delivery of the new aircraft was celebrated in Hamburg, Germany at a ceremony attended by executives of both Airbus and IndiGo.
After the first A320neo aircraft delivery in January 2016, the program has maintained a highly promising profile with the delivery of the first A321neo variant in 2017, the first A321LR variant in 2018 and the first A321XLR in 2019.
IndiGo which owns 129 first generation A320 already operates the world’s largest fleet of A320neo, with 96 aircraft. In all, the carrier is set to receive up to 430 aircraft of the type.
With a promised 20% less fuel consumption and 50% less noise compared to previous generation aircraft, the Airbus A320neo programme has logged 6,660 orders from 110 customers worldwide.
