In a surprise move, the Egyptian government has announced it had agreed with French aircraft maker Dassault on the purchase of 24 sleek Rafale fighter jets. The announcement on February 13th 2015 triggered acclamations from French quarters over the aircraft long awaited first foreign sale. The deal worth Euros 5.2 billion consists of 24 aircraft part of weapons package also including a frigate along with “associated related equipment”. The deal which is rumored to have taken less than 3 months to close will be executed in a similarly remarkably short amount of time with 3 aircraft being delivered before the end of the year and another 3 next year 2016. Horrific Plunge Of TransAsia Airways ATR-72-600 Into River At Least 13 Fatalities

Horrific images of yesterday's TransAsia Airways flight GE235 crash have began to appear.  The aircraft, an ATR-72-600 had departed Taipei Songshan Airport on February 4th 2015 at about 10:50 am on a flight to Kinmen crashed less than 5 minutes later. Footage of the incident was captured by a dashboard-mounted camera aboard a car, showing the low-flying aircraft, apparently struggling to remain in the air, executing a sharp banking turn narrowly avoiding a bridge and diving into the Keeling river. Of the TransAvia Airways Flight GE235 which carried 53 passengers and 5 crew members on board, at least 13 fatalities had been confirmed dead. Scoot Pte Ltd, the Singapore-based long-haul, low-cost carrier, took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 on February 2nd 2015.  The arrival of the new 787-9  will allow the carrier, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines to begin a slow phase- out process of the 6 Boeing 777-200 it had acquired from the parent company since beginning operations in 2012. The new 787-9 which is likely to begin fleet service on February 5th on the Singapore-Perth route is the first of 10 787-9 aircraft ordered along with another 10 shorter 787-8 from Boeing initially for Singapore Airlines in 2012.
