Vision Airlines, the airline headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia announced May 17th 2011 that its new schedule taking effect June 1st 2011 will allow passengers to connect to more than 100 flight at its Northwest Florida hub at Destin/Ft Walton Beach airport.
The new low cost carrier recently added low cost regularly scheduled-flight services to its core sight seeing carrier and charter operation. since December 2010, the carrier has established a network serving 24 destinations located across 14 states from its hub at Destin/Fort Walker Beach regional airport. The carrier relies on extensive commercial flight operation from charter business with the US government as primary customer, government-approved charter operation from Miami and New York to 4 destinations in Cuba as well as a strong vacation packages provided via its Nevada sight seeing tour operation. With an already mature infrastructure, the opening of a scheduled-service operation was done seamlessly as an extension of existing operation. This allowed the carrier to offer introductory fares as low as $19 offered on specific routes from North West Florida Regional to Orlando/Sanford International Airport; Punta Gorda/Fort Myers Airport and St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport between March 25th and March 27th 2011. The carrier has adhered to a strong vacation offerings by still operating primarily destinations in Florida from its Emerald Coast base; St. Petersburg, Tampa, Ft Myers, Punta Gorda, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando FL as well as Savannah, Georgia and Las Vegas. The carrier fleet will rely extensive on turboprop-powered Dornier aircraft: the Dornier 228 has seating capacity of 19 while the Dornier 328 provides 30 seats. The fleet’s Boeing 737-300/400 will be available to provide additional capacity if passenger pressure requires flights accommodating up to 136 passengers. The 2 Boeing 767-200ER will continue providing international charter services in the 200-seats category.
