SAS Boeing 737-700 LN-RRB (Ernst Vikne)

General Electric Capital Aviation Services GECAS announced April 19th 2011 that it had reached leasing agreement with Scandinavian Air Systems (SAS) airline. The agreement will ensure that the Stockholm-based multinational airline will take delivery of 5 brand new Boeing 737-800 along with 12 new Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The airline which already operate more than Boeing 737NG (-600/-700/-800 variants) has stated that the latest leasing agreement with GECAS is necessary to complete the retirement of the dozen or so Boeing 737 ‘Classics’ (-400/-500 variants) that it still operates. The airline is also finalizing plans to replace the approximately 26 McDonnell Douglas MD-83 and MD-87 mostly built in the late 80’s and early 90’s that are still critical to its medium haul operation.

GECAS a leading global provider of leased aircraft will deliver the 17 new Boeing 737 as part of an outstanding order with manufacturer Boeing covering 40 Boeing 737 aircraft dating back to July 19th 2010.
